Grizzly Bear

Ursus arctos horribilis

Description:

Most adult female grizzlies weigh 290–440 lb, while adult males weigh on average 400–790 lb. The average total length in this subspecies is 6.50 ft, with an average shoulder height of 3.35 ft and hind foot length of 28 cm 11 in.

Habitat:

Generally lives in the uplands of western North America

Notes:

Female Grizzly bear at the San Francisco Zoo. She and her sister have been raised there from small cubs after their mother was killed. They are fed carrots, berries, apples and live fish.
