Description:

medium size butterfly that exhibits a lot of variation in its exterior wing appearance. The interior wing appearance is dominated by a summer and fall color form. To make matters worse the species is dimorphic. Everything considered the species seems to occur with an endless amount of variation and is always worth photographying.

Habitat:

Most common in woods and transition areas, but will venture out into meadows if adjacent to wooded areas.
