Marbled White Moth

Nyctemera adversata

Description:

Erebidae; Arctiinae; Arctiini; Nyctemera adversata (Schaller, 1788). This specimen must surely be a male because it has bipectinate (feather-like) antennae. Wikipedia lists this moth as present in many countries in Asia and Southeast Asia, including the Philippines. Also, Philippine Lepidoptera feature some specimens in their Arctiinae section. So, no problems with distribution on this one.

Habitat:

This moth was spotted high up on the wall, under the eaves of my wife's family house. It was just before 9:00 pm on a very dark, rainy evening. I thought that it might have been attracted by the light or was looking for shelter, but it may have been there since before dark because Wikipedia says it is a day-flying species.
