Description:

The male measures 23 cm. and weighs 95 grams. and female 25.5 cm. and 130 grams. They have long fingers and nails that allows them to walk on floating vegetation and rounded wings with a sharp spur on his shoulder. Adults have the head, neck and chest black, chestnut brown body, and greenish-yellow pinions. The peak and the front shield are bright yellow. The cera is light bluish gray, the legs are greenish. In this species polyandry prevails; the female is often associated with several males that incubate several nests at the same time They feed on insects, small fish, snails and seeds. They live in ponds, marshes and lagoons, especially those with flourishing aquatic vegetation and protected margins with vegetation
