Description:

Slender glabrous biennial, 10-40 cm, stems and leaves often floccose at base. Stems usually unbranched. Leaves narrowly linear. Peduncles scarcely thickened below capitula. Phyllaries 5-8, narrowly lanceolate, ± equal in length to flowers, 2-2.75 cm in flowering capitulum. Flowers violet-purple. Achene c. 20 mm long, ± equal in length to beak, beak clavate at apex. Endemic of the Balkan peninsula
