Macrhybopsis tetranema
About 60mm, slender and taparing, with barbels at edges of subterminal mouth, speckled or peppered. Iridescent green stripe.
Extremely limited to shallow, large prairie streams and rivers over sand in the upper Arkansas River drainage. Extirpated throughout much of its range due to impoundments and drought.
Protected as state threatened or endangered in New Mexico, Oklahoma, Kansas. Not federally protected... yet. Not protected in Texas, where it can be found in good populations in the Canadian River above Lake Meredith, which blocks its distribution downstream.
