Pavo cristatus
The male (peacock) Indian Peafowl has iridescent blue-green or green colored plumage. The peacock tail ("train") is not the tail quill feathers but the highly elongated upper tail covert feathers. Colour mutations exist through selective breeding, such as the leucistic white peafowl. Peafowl are forest birds that nest on the ground but roost in trees. They are terrestrial feeders.
I was surprised by this bird while driving down a rural road; it hopped onto the fence of a farm alongside the road, so must have belonged there.

Thanks, sarahaw1981!
Brilliant information you have included here, and the correct use of terms "Peafowl (collective) Peacock (male) Peahen (female)". It was a good read. :-)
You can also add this sighting to the mission Rare Colour Morphs.
