Eastern Cottontail Rabbit

Sylvilagus floridanus

Description:

We've seen this little guy around frequently over the past week. My siblings have tried to catch him in a cage, despite my pleadings, and they have nicknamed him skipper. Eastern cottontails are found across eastern USA

There are several websites with recommendations for rabbit prevention in veggie gardens, here are a couple I found on a quick search. I make no claims to the efficacy of these methods. :-)

we have chicken wire, but that's probably not strong enough. What would you suggest?

Sorry to hear that. Perhaps some fencing might help?

I agree with you, ForestDragon. But i am a little irritated with this young rabbit. He has been frequently visiting our garden and destroying it. All we have left are a few tomatoes. :(

Hopefully your siblings will not be successful. Wild rabbits do not do well in captivity, they tend to die from stress very easily. This one is old enough to be on its own. Best to try to leave it alone.
