fork-tailed sunbird (female)

Aethopyga christinae

Description:

About 10 cm long. Female: yellow rump and overall light green body, no fork on tail. Decurved beak.

Habitat:

City gardens and parks.

Notes:

My wife and I were parked on a bench drinking coffee and enjoying the acrobatic stylings of juvenile gibbons in Hong Kong Botanical Garden when a little explosion of green feathers shot out of the red flowers in front of us.
