Ya sounds good namitha, take care!

Yeah we can't just speak of some people like that, because all around the globe every nation is going on exploiting nature one way or the other. So it evens out. That'a a lot of information in one day. Hope to see more spottings and know more about Canada. Thank you.

Okay I'm done rambling for now, and I apologize to any nice, nature-minded Japanese people, for the comment on how your country is sucking up the 'worlds' whales, dolphins, and sharks. I shouldn't be so narrow-minded because a lot of different countries are mis treating the worlds biodiversity, and jeopardize the health of the entire planet.

I didn't have such a picture about Canada. Are there a lot of natives in Canada, who live the traditional way. Whaling is really another alarming issue. And the polar bears, last semester there was a poster competition in our college, about global warming. In the poster
I made, the first drawing was of polar bears getting stranded in pockets of ice due to melting of ice. Guess this discussion will never end, I just realised that all the information that I had about Canada in general was wrong, except for the fact that there is a beautiful maple leaf on the flag.

No concern, that I've heard out of anyone around. Just me rambling on about how the world need to be loved and no one cares. Lots of drunken hunts-men up here, who instead of conserving nature for future generations, would rather kill everything for sport.

Sorry I'm starting to ramble on.. Lol

That was not what I expected to hear. Canada, being so near to the north pole, I was expecting something else.

namitha

That's really cool. So, you mean they never actually dig out what they have hidden for later use.

The only reason chipmunks would bury their food would be to grow a tree or plant that he/she likes and needs, everything I have observed of chipmunks has led me to believe, their actually quite intelligent.

That's an interesting fact. Is global warming one among the important issues that the naturalists there are concerned. I asked, because that is one of the major concerns here, but nobody seems to be really doing anything.

It's called 'cache' ing the squirrels do this with they food, and the blue jays and other birds.
Chipmunks however have a nice home in the ground ( bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, ext). They gather as many nuts as they can so they can make it threw the winter.

namitha
namitha 11 years ago

That's very cruel. Which is almost same as what we do to rats here.

namitha
namitha 11 years ago

I have read somewhere that chipmunks hide acorns/nuts, like they bury them in soil, is that true.

DaneCole
DaneCole 11 years ago

That's why they are seen so often collecting nuts, not only acorns. (because they hibernate). We also have a flying squirrel but they hibernate too.

So, if people doesn't like chipmunks what do they do to them.

DaneCole

Hahahah very cool , I just picture Bugz bunny eating his carrots all the time, I guess they got it wrong.
Chipmunks are omnivores, so they eat a lot of pests that try to invade the garden, when ever I'm out weeding or digging something up, chippy is out the looking for grubs. That's how I'm getting people to love them again around here, teaching that they keep your garden clean and pest-free, but not even the amazing chipmunk can eat all the pests so that's why I have dozens of ant colonies.

Wow, my ignorance has no end. I didn't know that chipmunk's hibernate. Because squirrels don't, I always thought chipmunks are very similar to squirrels.

DaneCole

The chippy loves strawberries ! Especially after hibernating for 6 months.

namitha

ok

namitha
namitha 11 years ago

I didn't know that chipmunks like strawberries, not that we have any chipmunks or strawberries here. But when asked, I could only associate chipmunks with oaks. Like rabbits with carrots. But, now that I have rabbits in my house, I know that rabbits are not great fans of carrot, infact my rabbits hate carrots.

Oh and my Internet crashed or something, I dunno. So I just got the I phone app for project Noah at the moment, I'll try to see if I can check out your tomato

namitha

That's a really kind thought for the animals, and, yeah the spottings definitely give that idea.

DaneCole

Lol! Chipmunk *sorry!

I try to supply enough food for; what should be living within the acre around my home, so I'm constantly planting new perennials to reach the high demand from pollinators throughout the year, there's flowers and trees for creatures big and small, on just a half acre piece of land.

namitha

Really sorry , but 'strictly for chippy' means?
