Yellow Assassin Bug Nymph

Cosmolestes picticeps

Description:

Cosmolestes picticeps belongs to the family Reduviidae order Hemiptera. 7mm total body large, yellow with black head and black spots on legs at back.

Habitat:

Spotted at Taman Dusur Bandar, near Kuala Lumpur

Notes:

Assassin bugs are mainly predatory and as with all hemipterans, they have sucking mouthparts which they use to pierce their prey and carry out liquid feeding. Assassin bugs have a characteristic groove in their prosternum which is unique to the family.
