Juvenile Yelloweye Rockfish

Sebastes ruberrimus

Notes:

Yellow-eye Rockfish can live as long as 120 years, this one is a juvenile. It exhibits the white stripes that fade as the rockfish ages. It is very nice to see yellow-eye juveniles on a dive as the sub-adults and adults are rare to see and usually much deeper. This one posed before ducking into a crevasse to hide from divers and predators.

It would be interesting if you would include some comments about your experience getting the spotting, etc. Thanks for sharing it!
