Cramp Balls

Daldinia concentrica

Description:

The biggest one I've found so far in pic one. The reddy-brown stuff on pic one and two is powdery and can be brushed off. There was a lot of these cramp balls in this part of the wood. These used to be used as slow burning kindling

Notes:

bt just past the nursery's marked out play area
