Petrea volubilis
Two toned violet flowers growing on a creeper. Petrea volubilis is an interesting vine for its sandpaper textured leaves as well as the flowers. It is sometimes called Queen's Wreath, Sandpaper Vine, Purple Wreath, or Blue Bird Vine. It is hardy into the high 20's but not much colder. Petrea volubilis will take heavy drought once established and blooms in the late summer with long lasting tresses of purple to white flowers.
Seen in the gardens of the Getty museum, Los Angeles.
