Odocoileus virginianus
The white-tailed deer is a medium-sized deer native to the United States, Canada, and Mexico among other South American countries too.
The areas that provide the most suitable environment include a mixture of hardwoods, croplands, brushlands and pasturelands. They prefer an interspersed habitat including meadows, forested woodlots, brushy areas and croplands.
The deer was skittish when it saw me but was separated by over 75 yards of small brush and trees. It never ran off it just merely walked away.
