Description:

The Showy Lady's Slipper has 3 white, pointed, upper petal-like sepals and 1 large, inflated pink and white lower petal; the lower inflated petal is often veined in deep pink: airy, flowering stalks.

Habitat:

Spotted at Tamarac near Pine Lake. This flower grows in cool, wet, swampy places near forests.

Notes:

The Showy Lady's Slipper is Minnesota's official state flower and is also known as the "Orchid of the North."
