Spinus tristis
This Spinus tristis had an exceptionally bright yellow neck in its winter plumage.
Thank you Susan and Ashley! I hope very much for an early spring, but I hope I'm not jinxing myself there!! I'm not sure Ashley. Maybe the temperature is more of a factor in the winter/summer plumages than the actual time of year.
I live in the TX panhandle and all of ours are especially bright yellow too...weird!
I agree, that is quite yellow for this time of year. I wonder if it means anything? Early spring, perhaps? ;-)
