Haemorhous mexicanus
Small bird with a heavy bill for breaking seeds. Males are brown with red on their heads and breasts with brown streaking on the belly, females are brown with heavy streaking on the breast and belly.
Wooded back yard in a housing area. Attending the bird feeders.
Large, agressive flock that tended to try to drive off the other birds when they were on the feeder. They even were able to drive the cardinals away temporarily dispite the fact that the cardinals are larger in size.
