Lesser Emperor Butterfly

Apatura ilia

Description:

Brown butterfly with white spots and lines and red/black rings on both over and underwings. This and others in the same genus have reflective scales that shine blue or purple metallic in an angle. Medium size butterfly, fast flight and usually very reactive to movement, but this one didn't seem to care much and followed me around several hundred meters. most likely to get salt from my skin.

Habitat:

Dirt road, mixed forest. Open area with a lot of flowers.
