Xylocopa violacea
A large and impressive bee, rather big insect belonging to the family Apidae, sub-family Xylocopinae. Twice as massive as honey bee, with all black body, and wings with violet sheen. Heavy loud buzzing sound when passing by.
Seen in garrigue feeding on Hollyhock flowers.
