Turkey tail

Trametes versicolor

Description:

Resembling a Turkey's tail these bracket fungus have bands of many colors ranging from dark brown to cream color and may include orange, red, or purple. Unlike mushrooms brackets have no roots. Like these can be thin or can grow thick. They have a leathery feel.

Habitat:

They grow in mostly shaded areas or in forests on logs, stumps and trees.
