Chicken of the Woods

Laetiporus sulphureus

Description:

A beautiful and very colorful mushroom that grew to be very large

Habitat:

Wooded area on a dying tree in our backyard, next to wetlands (marsh/swamp area) and within a seven mile radius of lakes, river, woodlands, farmlands, prairie fields and farm fields.

Notes:

This yellow and orange mushroom grew to be quite large. We thought it would break off due to its weight but it held on until it had dried to a dull brown before finally letting go.

Please no animals, trees, or fungi! (but see related missions, if you have some that you want to share!)
