Thank you! It is the giant woodwasp. I have checked it out on the link you have in your post. We have some wood for building stored in our garden and we saw it there. Had been scared a bit as we never saw one before. Thank you for your quick help.

I think this is some kind of sawfly, possibly a horntail - those facial markings match what I see in photos of horntails on Wikipedia, but I'm not sure what species this could be. With that ovipositor, it's definitely a female.
