Plague soldier beetle

Description:

This is called a mating aggregation of these plague beetles. After two photos, they were all over my legs.

Thanks Keith. The tree is flowering profusely and has therefore attracted the beetles. Other trees has no such aggregation.

Thanks Yuko. This was a very hot day (40 degrees C ) and normally these beetles are feeding on flowers. Today they are in the shade.
