Greater Night-stalking Tiger Beetle

Omus dejeanii

Description:

O. dejeanii is one of the largest members of the Omus genus. The elytra are relatively flat laterally with broad, shallow dimples. It's typically found on coastal forest floors in southwestern Canada and the northwestern US. Active mostly at night.

Habitat:

Found in my woodpile.

Notes:

This one is a male, about 17mm long excluding mandibles. Maybe due to the cold, he was quite lethargic.
