Dryas iulia

Description:

Interestingly Dryas iulia is the sole representative of its genus Dryas. Elongated orange wings with some dark markings. Males are brighter orange than females. Avg wingspan 85 mm.

Habitat:

Spotted at Resaca De La Palma State Park near Brownsville, Texas. They prefer subtropical woodlands and adjacent open or disturbed areas with nectar sources.
