Rounded Antennae Insect

Description:

A small black winged insect resting on a tree bark with a pair of unusual large oval-shaped antennae. Looks like Alcecoris sp, Isometopinae bug. Could also be misidentified as a Cryptanusia wasp (Encyrtidae). Similar spotting from Indonesia - http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/105... or another similar insect (Hemipteran?) from India http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/239...

Habitat:

Around the forest of Kinabalu National Park, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 1km diameter.

Thank you RGB and JLS for returning to this.

I am starting to lean towards Hemiptera too now, rather than an Encyrtida wasp. I will try to take better shots and examine it when I find it again next time. Hopefully, it could be something new to science.

Hi guys - sorry I missed this conversation.
I don't think this is an encyrtid wasp - the pictures are a bit fuzzy but the it just doesn't look right (particularly the eyes).
I would have guessed maybe fly - but the antennae certainly look similar to the hemipteran in http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/239... that you mention.

Just wondering if you are seeing this the same as me Chun.. I believe the eyes are set in the black head behind the brown antennal base structure. A little deceptive as the antennal base seems to have two lobes resembling eyes. To me the legs, wing patterns, size and of course antennae are very good for Encyrtidae. Lets see if we can get JlS to comment. :)

Encyrtidae is a very good suggestion.
However the eyes of this spotting is very unique and do not match any online photoraphs of Encyrtid wasp.

Maybe it is an Encyrtid Wasp? See what John LaSalle thinks of this one.

Thank you Lauren.
It is amazing that you can see it as a Hemipteran.
To me, it looks like a Diptera or Hymenoptera insect.

This looks Hemipteran to me, especially the last 3 pictures with the prominent scutellum and the type of wings. The fattened abdomen is misleading.
