Tiny Ground Beetle

Description:

A species of ground beetle (Pericalus sp.) which is very tiny compared to other Carabidae species. Only 6mm in length. Shiny dark green body with 4 yellow dots on it's elytra. Seems to have wings but it did not fly when handled. It has a similar pattern to Dolichoctis tetracolon. Similar species can be found in Sulawesi http://www.flickr.com/photos/pasha_k/839...

Habitat:

Forest floor of the Maliau rainforest. Found this inside a meeting room in MBSC.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 5km diameter. 3 more spottings left from my Maliau Basin trip. Special thanks to MichaelGeiser for genus ID.
