Large bee-orchid

Ophrys fuciflora

Description:

Ophrys fuciflora is one of the last bee-orchids to bloom in spring. It is rather tall and has large flowers which have pink tepals. The lip is also large. The plant has many local forms and got many local names. I prefer to lump them into Ophrys fuciflora.

Habitat:

open Mediterranean shrub land

Notes:

protected in Israel
