Asplenium platyneuron
Fern of some kind
I made this same mistake recently, The pinnae of the maidenhair are opposite, these are alternate. The difficulty of identifying is compounded by three factors; the pinnae of ebony can often be so close together you have to really look to see they are alternate, the fertile fronds of ebony will have opposite pinnae towards the tip, and the genus Asplenium hybridizes with reckless abandon.
