I spotted these slaters feeding on a pipi mollusc, at Rapaki bay, Canterbury NZ. At first I thought that the pipi was alive and it was trying to burry again in the sand, but eventually I realised that there were dozens of grey slaters, eating it from the inside, and there were several pipi shells in the same condition, all around the beach...
