Eastern Pondhawk Dragonfly

Erythemis simplicicollis

Description:

A beautiful green with brown striped, large dragonfly

Habitat:

A small slough near a much larger slough next a gravel road in the reeds and cattails where its color helped in blend in so well, I had a hard time following it.

Notes:

Seen zipping about catching other, smaller insects. It only came to rest after catching a meal. No eating on the fly with this guy.
