Mountain Goat - Oreamnos americanus

Description:

Usually white but in summer because of mud and dirt the goats can get dingy color white. Adults will have beards, short tails and shaggy wool coats with straight upright black horns. There cloven hooves have inner pads and their dewclaws to help grip and not slip. From the Bovidae family.

Habitat:

Not native to Mt Evans but were introduced in the 50's and later from herds in Wyoming and they move freely along the mountain range. Well equipped to climb the rocky and steep surfaces.

Notes:

These goats over the years learned to tolerate humans and can stand in the middle of the road if they wish.
