It was high on a wire, so couldn't get another perspective. It was larger than goldfinch about size of Junco
The white dot under the eye creates a strong contrast with the gray facial cheek. The lack of white outer tail feathers also confirms. Although, it is quite difficult to ensure that there is surely no white on the tail - the facial patch though gives us our ID confirming it is not a Western Kingbird.
