Large Yellow butterfly with distinct black stripes

Habitat:

In the woods females have a tendency to stick to the canopy but will come down to take nector in clearings and meadows. Males like to gather to dab in the mud and can be seen in in meadows and wood clearings

Notes:

drought can drastically reduce the number of this species.
