Monarch Butterfly

Description:

Due to their bright colors, virtually warns predators that has tastes nasty, which can cause various reactions to those who try to eat them, from nausea to death. And, in a way, their natural enemies understand this message. So much so that some butterflies use this ruse to deceive their predator and mimics the Monarch Butterfly.

Habitat:

Native of North America and South America, the monarch butterflies are widely distributed in the Americas in general, but also were reported in New Zealand and Australia. In Brazil, it is present in the North, Northeast and Midwest.

Notes:

These butterflies gather in colonies ganging up on pine and conifer trees. In many cases, are so numerous that the trees are orange and branches shall wear under the weight of so many butterflies. It is estimated that about 60 million to 1 billion butterflies arrive to Mexico each winter.
