It wouldn't get off my converses -.- I had to pick it up and move it haha I still don't understand why it's a dark tan color instead of white, though. I rubbed it a few times to see if it would move off my shoe before I took a photo of it, but the tan color wasn't removed any.

You were close, llombard17! I agree with Jakubko, this is a Hickory Tussock Moth caterpillar. Here is another reference for you:
