Hermann's tortoise

Testudo hermanni

Description:

Small to medium sized tortoise from the family Testudinidae. It has an attractive black-and-yellow patterned and domed shell, reaching some 20 to 22 cm in length.

Habitat:

Hot and rather dry areas, with some Mediterranean vegetation, both cultivated and wild (our garden).
