Trimerotropis salina
Very difficult to distinguish from the Pallid-winged Grasshopper, but dark bands on the front wings are usually less distinct in the Alkali Grasshopper.
Found on a trail through a riparian corridor in a mostly urban area. Understory grasses and herbs, overstory trees are elm and cottonwood. Preferred habitat is alkali flats and lakeshores, in extremely hot, arid areas.
Identification provided by Dave Ferguson. This species may be suffering from loss of habitat.
