Praying Mantis

Family Mantidae

Description:

Spotted this young praying mantis with a fly it had just caught. A mantis is a very efficient fly catcher eating as many as 25 flies a day. Not sure if this is a New Zealand Mantis (Orthdera novaezealandae) or African (Miomantis caffra). Probably an African one.
