White-crowned Sparrow

Description:

Sparrow-sized bird with black stripes and white stripes on head. Body is mostly brown with long tail. This one has a yellow bill and white wing bars.

Habitat:

Sonoran Desert near Apache Junction, AZ

Notes:

This is either white-crowned or white-throated sparrow. Your thoughts?

Agree with White-crowned. White-throated is true to its name and shows a clearly demarcated white throat.

Hi Ken, I think this is a White-crowned Sparrow.

White-throated Sparrows with the white on the head have bright yellow lores and the other markings are slightly different. Nice find!
