Wheel bug (nymph)

Arilus cristatus

Description:

Insect I found on my door handle. I moved him to some oak leaves on the ground. His body was about 3/4" long, or 20mm. He did not like being photographed and kept trying to hide. I believe it's an older nymph wheel bug.

NickKing, you're right, the wheel bug is a member of the larger assassin bug family.
