Monarch

Danaus plexippus

Description:

Caterpillar found feeding on butterfly milkweed.

Habitat:

Extremely high quality restored prairie

Notes:

Individual that seems a bit behind the majority of the monarch population. Most of the species are just coming out of their chrysalis, where this one was still a couple days from pupation, making it about a week and a half behind.
