Matteuccia struthiopteris
The fern is around 70 cm tall and easily recognizable by their upright, symmetrical and erect shape. The plant can grow much taller. The leaves are large, pale green, rosette-shaped and upright so that they form a funnel. The leaf blade is spear-shaped, narrowest at the base, widest near the top, before narrowing to a point. The plant, the young fiddlehead, is used as a vegetable both in Japan and the northeastern United States.
