Petal count, thorniness, fragrance, leaf size and color - you have to love the many kinds of roses :) I have a mission just for Texas Tough Roses (http://www.projectnoah.org/missions/1007...), perhaps Canada needs a similar mission.
Your choice looks like it could be a match. Photo angel made me think it was a small rose but, Dane said it was about a 5 foot rose, so I doubt it is a patio rose.

Thank you gatorfellows, but I dunno Ontario doesn't have many native/wild, hardy roses, but you got me thinking about a new mission!

If you got any suggestions, then show me a link.

How about a Floribunda Rose
I have a mini tangerine rose but it's half the size of this rose.
foliage doesn't grow good over here, a lot of fungi and bugs eat the leaves.
Yeah we call 'patio roses' >>> 'mini' and this isn't no mini.

Love the rosebush, reminds me somewhat of tea roses we had at our first home in Maryland.

Thanks gaterfellows! I found one - Hybrid Tea Rose 'Speelwark'
Here is a possibility, Folksinger is a upright shrub rose, yellow flushed to apricot, 28 petal count so not really a full tight rose. http://pickeringnurseries.com/web_store....
Pickering seems to have a large rose catalogue for you as a reference to roses in Canada; http://pickeringnurseries.com/web_store....
I will try to track down some possibilities for you. Maybe I will get lucky :)
It was about 5 ' tall, not a mini, and yeah heavenly scent.
Fragrance? Sometimes that is an identifier. Looks to be quite a small bush.
