Mestobregma plattei
Medium-sized grasshopper, grayish in color with black and white markings as shown. Strong facial stripe is characteristic. Also note bright blue hind tibiae ("shins"). Hind wings, visible in flight, vary from yellow to reddish.
Found along an eroded sandy trail in a vast open area with grasses, weeds, yucca, prickly-pear cacti.
