Dance Fly

Description:

A medium sized black-coloured fly spotted resting on a tree leaf. This Hybos Dance Fly has long slender abdomen and a "hump" on the thorax. The head is small with relatively large red eyes. The hind pair of legs are thicker than the other limbs. It may look like a Robber fly but it is not from the same family - Asilidae.

Habitat:

Around Kinabalu National Park, Kundasang, Sabah, Malaysia.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 1km diameter. My very first spotting of a dance fly. At first I thought this was a unusual species of Robber Fly. ID thanks to Valentin Hamon.
