Painted Lady Beetle

Mulsantina picta

Description:

Oval, glossy beige with brown markings as shown. Unlike many lady beetles, this species shows fairly consistent color and pattern.

Habitat:

Spotted at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, but surrounding native habitat is mixed coniferous forest with Gambel's Oak, aspen, alder, chokecherry.

Notes:

Formerly known as the "Pine Lady Beetle."
