Milkweed

Asclepias syriaca

Description:

There are over 140 species of Milkweed. I believe this is Asclepias syriaca. It is a favorite of the Monarch Butterfly. Here, it is seen in autumn, after it has gone to seed. Goldfinch find this seed irresistible.

Habitat:

Fields, grasslands. A hardy perennial wildflower.

Notes:
