Vermillian Flycatcher, fe

Pyrocephalus rubinus

Description:

Small vivdily colored flycatcher in the tyrant family. Males tend to lose their vibrancy in captivity. The female is attractive in an understated way, and different enough from the male that many first time spotters think she is a different species.

Habitat:

In tree near hummingbird feeder, at Crooked Tree, catching insects attracted

Notes:

This pair of birds were completely unconcerned and would let you approach to about 20 feet. Of course, they were flycatchers so didn't hod still very long anyway

That was all MS flycatcher's doing! Her mate was ruffling feathers and preening. I've posted him too. They were great little subjects
